| Teen Bible Study - The Soul and The Spirit | | What is your soul?
Your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions. It is the part of you that makes you aware of your existence.
When God created Adam, he had no soul until God breathed the breath of life into him. This means that he didn't have the ability to think; he had no will and he had no emotions. He was not aware of his existence.
It was after God breathed into his nostrils that he became a living soul and thus became aware of his existence. (Genesis 2: 7)
When you die, it literally means that your soul dies because you can no longer think, you have no will and you have no emotions. You are no longer conscious of your surroundings and thus you cease to exist.
The Spirit
When you believe and accept the teachings of God about His Son, Jesus Christ, you are born again of the Spirit of God and are now able to have a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 3: 3 tells us that people give birth to people but Spirit gives birth to Spirit. Due to this truth, it is impossible for someone who does not believe in the teachings about and the teachings of Jesus Christ to have a relationship with Him. That is why Jesus said that we must be born again. (John 3: 7)
Before Adam and Eve sinned, they had a perfect relationship with God. After they sinned, that relationship was broken and was later restored when by faith, they believed God regarding the truth that He would send His Son through Eve, to destroy the works of the enemy forever (Genesis 3). This was in truth, the first gospel or good news message that God gave to man.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour by believing what is written about Him and spoken by Him in the word of God and die before His Second Coming, you will be among those who are raised with a new and immortal body when He returns for those who believe in Him and follow Him.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour and are alive when He returns, then the body you have now will be changed into a new and immortal body. This will happen in the twinkling of an eye- in an instant. (1st Corinthians 15: 51-52; 1st Thessalonians 4: 13-17)
What is an immortal body?
An immortal body is a body that can never die.
Salvation
If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, why not accept Him today?
A Prayer to Receive Salvation
Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that your Son Jesus Christ died for my sins. I ask your forgiveness of my sins and accept your Son into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that you raised Him from the dead and because of this; I know that I can live a victorious new life in Christ. Thank You for my salvation. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Now complete the process of salvation by being baptized.
Acts 2: 38 ..Repent and be baptized … in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins….
