| Devotionals - z3) Day 29 Obedience to God | | Sometimes God asks us to do things that go against the normal order of our lives. To others we may appear to be foolish but God rewards our obedience.
When God told Noah to build the ark because He was going to destroy the earth with a flood, it had never rained on the earth before. Noah was obedient to God through faith. In spite of the fact that he appeared to be foolish in the eyes of man, he and his family and all that God asked him to carry into the ark with him were saved through his obedience to God.
When God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac to Him, he kept it to himself because the natural mind could never comprehend such a request from God. He was obedient to God and God provided a ram to be offered as a sacrifice in place of his son Isaac. Through his obedience to God we have come to know God as Jehovah-jireh, our provider.
God rewarded Abraham’s obedience in the most awesome way. In Genesis 22: 16-18 the reward is as follows: … Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your beloved son, I swear by My own self that I will bless you richly. I will multiply your descendants into countless millions, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore. They will conquer their enemies, and through your descendants, all the nations of the earth will be blessed-all because you have obeyed Me. (New Living Translation)
Your obedience to God may seem like foolishness to others but the reward will benefit many.
