According to Webster’s dictionary, a minister is a person who acts for another as his agent and carries out his orders or designs.

When Jesus came to the earth He came as an agent of God His Father and carried out every order or design that was given to Him by God – even to the extent of suffering a cruel death on the cross for the salvation of mankind. Jesus was a minister unto God.

When Jesus had completed His work on earth, He returned to God His Father and sent the Holy Spirit to take His place on the earth. The Holy Spirit hears directly from heaven and relays nessages to each born again believer regarding sin, righteousness and judgment. The Holy Spirit is a minister unto the people.

The pastor of a church is an agent of God and should carry out His orders or designs through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He is a minister unto the people - his members – and is responsible for watching over them and caring for them especially in their relationship with God.

All born again believers in Jesus Christ are agents of God and should carry out His orders or designs through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When we are in a right relationship with God, we will be servants of each other as in the example of Christ when He as Lord and Saviour of the world, humbled Himself and washed the feet of His disciples. He became a servant unto His disciples and taught the disciples how to be servants unto each other.

We all need to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord so that we can fulfill our role as ministers of God through service to our brothers and sisters in Christ and to our fellow man.
