| Devotionals - zz4) Day 39 Forgetting Those Things Which Are Behind | | Paul fought against God by going after anyone who believed in Jesus, with all of the energy and breath it took to sustain his very life. He hunted Christians with more passion than the police hunt violent and dangerous criminals today. He left no stone unturned and could care less if it cost him every penny he had.
One day on his journey to hunt Christians, he met the very God that he was fighting against. A bright light shone from heaven and he heard a voice asking him saying “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” Without hesitating, he responded, “Who art thou Lord?”
Paul had come face to face, as it were, with Jesus Christ and his life was never the same again. Now instead of persecuting the people of God he became the man who pursued people for God and could care even less if it cost him his very life. (Acts 9)
There isn’t one human being on the face of this earth who has lived a perfect life, yet God, our wonderful creator and heavenly Father would like to perfect His will in each and every one of us. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you did or what you used to be. All you need to do is surrender your life to Him and allow Him to make you a vessel of honour that He will use to accomplish His will on earth.
So my friend - no matter what you may have done or been in your life - forget the past. Look forward to what lies ahead. Strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. (Philippians 3: 13b-14 paraphrased)
